DIY: Laundry Room Storage

Storage Inspiration

The laundry room. I’m a little embarrassed to say how long we waited to add the much needed storage shelves to our laundry room. I just dealt with being too short to access the cabinets in there and endured a few years of scattered baskets on the floor and down the hallway as we checked off other projects on our list. But finally we marked off a weekend and got it done. It’s such an improvement! We added a shelf above the washer and dryer to store my detergent and other items I need easy access to. Then we built a storage tower for the laundry baskets to keep them off the floor. It’s amazing what a transformation a little storage can make. This was an easy DIY project we did using some extra wood we had in the wood shop and some leftover stain from a different project. Now doing laundry isn’t such an aggravation. Well, except for when the kids turn their jeans inside out and underwear is trapped in the legs. 🙄 Yeah, you moms know what I mean.

Before photo. See those baskets on the floor? Ugh. And it drove me crazy not being able to reach my detergent without a step stool. Those cabinets are hung too high for this girl.

After photo. Now I can reach everything and my baskets are stored away nicely. Yay!
