Farmhouse Dining Room

When Skipper and I built our first dining table years ago, he asked me if I wanted him to build chairs to go with it. I said no. I didn’t want a matchy-matchy look. I wanted the handcrafted, rustic look of the table, but I wanted to coordinate it with store bought chairs. I like breaking it up so that when I look into my dining room, I don’t just see a single stain color of a big furniture set. I have a combination of woods and white and grey that all complement each other in the space. I found our chairs and bench at World Market and they have been wonderful. They still look great after many years of use. I went with weathered grey and white seating to contrast the stained table. Then I chose accent decor in the same color palette to create a cohesive look in the room. None of the decor was anything expensive-just simple finds at local antique stores, Hobby Lobby, Amazon, etc. Having a space you love doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. Need more tips?
